Insight on food photographing
Food photographing is different than other photographing, but yet some things are similar such as you need to adjust the ISO for good lighting, adjusting the shutter speed, and shoot different angles. Also, when photographing food, you need to make it look as editable as possible and fresh food is always a plus.
Furthermore, you will benefit by knowing your audiences, such as is your image for product packaging, a cookbook, or a magazine. Therefore, knowing where your images are being, utilized can help you to determine the best way to crop or compose your image. Knowing the layout of your image is very crucial for you to identify, before you start shooting. Additionally, you need to remember that your client may perceive your images differently than you do. For that reason, by shooting different angles of your image, you can provide your client many different images to choose from and have a better chance that they will utilize your images.
When taking food photography, you should keep it natural as possible with hardly any props. On the other hand, by using special effects, for instance, selective focus, zoomed in shots, or slightly tilting your plate can make the food look more scrumptiously delicious. With the right lighting on your shot, the food will look that good to make your mouth water. Food photographs can be taken with natural lighting or in a workplace or studio, where you can control the amount of lighting. Carefully pick your color and texture background, this will affect the amount of lighting you will need for your image.
An image of drink is challenging. To generate the effect of condensation developing on the outer part of the glass that has cold liquid inside, use dulling spray. However, by using corn syrup or glycerin you can create dew drops. If you are shooting an image of a drink with ice cubes inside, it is best to use acrylic ice cubes. Therefore, using acrylic, will keep the ice cubes from melting, while you take a snapshot. To create a fresh look, take a small amount of the drink, mix it with detergent, then use an eye dropper on the surface to create bubbles. It obviously takes time and practice until you get that perfect food photograph.
All in all
Always remember to experiment with your display of food or drinks, until you get it just right. Furthermore, always keep a close eye on the proper lighting and at all times to take several angles shots, and keep it fun.
