Mother says, “A Noni a day, will keep the doctor away.”
Hi, my name is John, and I want to let you know the truth about Noni - also known in the world of plants as morinda citrifolia. I am qualified to share Noni with you, not only because I am a youthful looking, handsome, and sexy guy, but also because I have a Noni plant growing in my back yard.
Yes, right here behind my house in the Philippines, and many of my neighbor’s yards have noni plants also. The black volcanic soil here is excellent for growing the noni plants. My wife went outside this afternoon and picked a small basket of fresh Noni fruit for me for later today. Lucky me!!!
When I drink the noni fruit juice, I like to mix it with a little pineapple juice and 7-Up to make the taste easier to swallow. The seeds are very spicy - like hot peppers — and burn my tongue when I suck on them to get loose the flesh of the fruit.
Was I surprised … The very first time I ate some of the fresh Noni fruit and drank the juice it had an immediate effect on my health. The very next day, I noticed that my back pains had vanished - gone away - and stayed away, as long as I consumed Noni fruit and juice every day. I have had lower back pains for over 40 years. Chiropractors helped, but the pain still did not go away.
Guess what - the cravings I had always had for snacks, junk foods, and sweets disappeared the very next day after taking Noni. I was definitely eating too much and gaining weight. After using Noni, my weight loss problems are gone.
I know - this is all only anecdotal evidence, and not based on any scientific study involving my use of Noni - but I am convinced of the benefits of using Noni. For me - it helps tremendously in making me feel better. It has cleared up a lot of medical and health problems that previously were dogging me.
This all started about 20 years ago. The noni fruit that I have eaten for many years has helped me feel healthier, look younger, lose weight, given me youthful skin, with fewer aches and pains of old age. You might call me a “health nut” because of all the health information I am constantly digesting about alternative medicine, vitamins, supplements, minerals, antioxidants, folk medicine, herbals, and so forth.
My body is over 60 years old, but most folks think I am in my late 40’s. My youthful looks are likely due to the various herbs, vitamins, and supplements, including noni, that I take every day. I have been a serious “health nut” for about 20+ years now.
My studies, research, and use of herbal products have convinced me of the tremendous health value and benefits of herbs in my diet. I have seen my own health and well being improved, sometimes slowly, but always surely. Try Noni yourself - you will see positive changes in your body.
A physician trained at Johns Hopkins studied the affects of Noni on 25,000 Noni juice drinkers and found very positive effects for 29 health conditions in their lives. What can Noni do for you?
Try it for yourself, and see the changes in your body. Imagine feeling good again, looking younger, smoother and softer skin, improved digestion, fewer aches and pains, feeling healthier, lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels, strengthen your body’s natural ability to fight tumors, viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections, having more energy, feeling more alert, more energetic, and more balanced. What more could you ask for!
Research studies suggest that the compounds found in Noni may work at the cellular level in the human body to help abnormally functioning cells resume normal function and help normal cells maintain regular function.
There are several theories that may explain why Noni works so very beneficially in the body. Some believe it is a selection of polysaccharides, giving Noni fruit its beneficial effects. Other theories, based on research study findings, suggest that Noni promotes the production of nitric oxide in the body, which has been shown to strengthen the body’s natural ability to fight tumors, viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections.
A more popular explanation is called the “xeronine system” developed by the forerunner in Noni research, Dr. Ralph Heinicke Ph.D. who teamed up with Dr. Neil Solomon, a medical doctor. The Heinicke-Solomon Theory explains Noni’s wide range of effectiveness in the human body.
The ancient Aryan physicians of India especially valued Noni fruit because it protected the skin from becoming dry and cracked from the sun. My investigation of the published scientific literature on Morinda citrifolia yielded more than 100 articles pertaining to this medicinal Noni plant.
After I started taking Noni, I found that I was more alert, more energetic, more balanced, my skin was glowing more than I could ever recall, my hunger for junk foods was gone, and my digestion was greatly improved. I attributed the benefits of noni to the interaction of the known components along with the unknown components, which perhaps work synergistically with all the other nutrients to give me optimum health.
Researchers have reported that significant reductions in total cholesterol and triglycerides were seen in smokers who drank a product containing juice from the fruit of the noni tree every day for a month.
Here where I live in the Philippines, and elsewhere, natives use Noni for digestive problems such as diarrhea, intestinal worms, nausea, food poisoning; respiratory problems such as congestive cough, dry cough, tuberculosis, cholera, infant chest colds and sore throat; cardiovascular problems, hypertension; inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, abscesses, mastitis, gout and other inflammatory joint conditions.
It is a noted analgesic or pain reliever. One of the most common uses of noni has been in the area of skin conditions, being utilized for wounds, ulcers, abscesses, ring worm, boils, cellulitis, swellings, scalp conditions, including lice, and sores. It has been used in the treatment of tumors and broken bones, jaundice and other forms of liver disease, as well as treating asthma and dysentery, hypercholesterolemia, menstrual cramps, gastric ulcers and diabetes.

Ahh, summertime is here, and it is time for a vacation. It’s time for you and your family, (or just you yourself), to get out there, explore someplace new, visit family and friends, or just go to the beach. So, of course, you pack your necessary clothes, toothbrush, comb, hair dryer, etc., you have everything, right?
How about your weight loss exercise program?
What about your local gym that you go to?
Or the fitness devices you have at home?
Can you use your vacation as a fitness vacation, also?
Did you pack your discipline, too? Because you’ll need it when you go to all of those restaurants you’ll be going to.
Well, if you forgot to pack those (which most people do when they go on vacation), don’t worry, I am here to help you with all of those questions while you are on vacation.
While vacation is for having fun, you should NEVER lose sight of the big picture. And that is to lose weight, stay in shape, changing your lifestyle, etc.
I can hear the excuse train coming already…
“It’s too hard to work out while I’m on vacation.”
“How will I ever eat right when we go out to eat at restaurants the whole time?”
“Where will I work out at?”
Etc. etc. etc.
Always an excuse, right?
First of all, yes, it will probably be more difficult to stay on your fitness regimen while you are on vacation.
I’ll give you that.
But that’s all I will give you.
You can and MUST get it done…many people do it, including myself…so, it can be done.
Inconvenient?…maybe. Impossible?…Not even close.
There are people in this world who do the most amazing things to survive day in and day out…so before you start complaining that thinking ahead and planning how you will stay fit on your vacation is sooooo hard…just realize that people are always doing bigger and better things.
Now that that’s out of the way…let’s get into the “how” you will manage to stay fit on vacation.
Let me show you how, it’s really not that hard.
Ok, sample scenario…
You and your family are driving to the beach, staying at a nearby hotel for a few days.
Sounds like a basic family vacation, right?
Let’s see what you can do…
1. Stop by a grocery store (there are some by the beach too, you know) and stock up on fruits, vegetables, other assorted healthy snacks (low-fat yogurt, granola, raisins, etc.) to keep in your hotel room as snacks.
2. Also, you can buy bottled water, healthy juices (NOT the ones loaded with added sugar), teas, etc.
3. Most hotels have a small refrigerator (or…just go to the local Walgreen’s and buy a styrofoam cooler to put all of your stuff in). You just have to get ice from your hotel (and change it every day or so).
4. When you do go to restaurants (and there are usually a TON of them wherever you go on vacation)…pick a restaurant that offers a lot of lean meats, fruits, and vegetables.
5. If you need to, eat just enough to tide you over for when you get back to your hotel room…then you can eat from your healthy snacks.
6. Share a healthy chicken, turkey, or fish dish with a member of your family.
7. Stay FAR AWAY from onion rings, french fries, mozzarella sticks, etc.
8. Most hotels have a gym…use it…they also have carpeted floors…use them for doing pushups and other body-weight exercises (more to come on that in the future).
9. Take a brisk walk on the beach in the morning and night…there’s nothing much better than watching a sunrise and sunset while you are exercising.
10. Or, just do this little routine………brisk walk for 2 minutes, do 10 pushups, then 15 jumping jacks, then sprint for 15 seconds….rest for 2 minutes and repeat.
There you go…….I just gave you 10 things you can do to stay fit while on vacation…what other things can you do?
Nothing short of hundreds…maybe thousands.
But it’s about that time.
Let that marinate in your brain for a while…then stop on over to http://www.fitnesswithchris.com for some of the best health and fitness tips you can possibly find. As you should know by now, I’m always here to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. Don’t be afraid to ask me for help, it’s time you turn yourself into the person you’ve always wanted to be.
I’ll talk to you soon.

What Is Acid Reflux And How Do I Know If I Have It?
Acid reflux, also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is technically defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach.
Symptoms of heartburn in adults is the major symptom of acid reflux, characterized by a burning discomfort behind the breastbone. Some of the symptoms of acid reflux in adults include difficulty swallowing and chronic throat and chest pain. Some people may have only one of those symptoms.
Atypical symptoms of acid reflux include burning sensation at the base of the throat, cough, hoarseness, changes of the voice, chronic ear ache, or sinusitis.
Complications of acid reflux include stricture formation, Barrett’s esophagus, esophageal ulcers and possibly even esophageal cancer.
Occasional heartburn is common but does not necessarily mean one has acid reflux. Patients that have heartburn symptoms more than once a week are at risk of developing acid reflux. The presence of a hiatal hernia is a risk factor for development of acid reflux.
Symptoms of acid reflux may be difficult to detect in infants and children. Symptoms may vary from typical adult symptoms. Acid Reflux in children may cause repeated vomiting, effortless spitting up, coughing, and other respiratory problems.
Inconsolable crying, failure to gain adequate weight, refusing food and bad breath are also common. Children may have one symptom or many. No single symptom is universally present in all children suffering from acid reflux.
Babies’ immature digestive systems are usually the cause, and most infants stop having acid reflux by the time they reach their first birthday. Some children don’t outgrow acid reflux and continue to have it into their teen years.
Children that have had heartburn that doesn’t seem to go away, or any other symptoms of acid reflux for a while, should talk to their parents and visit their doctor.
Certain foods promote acid reflux. They include but are not limited to: Coffee, alcohol, calcium supplements, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements are stimulants of gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can promote acid reflux in the evening. Calcium containing antacids is a good example of this.
Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these tends to help, as well. Fat also delays emptying of the stomach.
Having more but smaller meals also reduces the risk of acid reflux. Why? Because there is less food in the stomach at any one time.

GHS Health-Zymes
It’s A Natural Fact . . . Your Body’s Digestion Is Highly Enzyme Dependent! Did You Know That . . . Enzymes are the energy used to rebuild your cells, tissues, glands, muscles, nerves, and bones. Enzymes assist in the storing of nutrients and glucose in your liver and muscles for future energy use. Without enzymes, life could not exist, especially in human beings. A lack of enzymes will create illness, lower resistance, cause stresses of all types, and create physiological environments within your body that can lead to a shortened life span. By supplementing what you eat with GHS Health-Zymes™, you can stop, or at least slow down, this abnormal and pathological aging process.
The Importance of Proper Hydration and Stretching
Whether you’re taking a brisk walk or running a 26 mile marathon, hydration and stretching are extremely important to preventing injury and to maintaining optimum fitness. However, there are many myths about both these things that have crept into most people’s thinking.
The number one myth about hydration is that you should let your level of thirst signal when you need to drink. This is absolutely untrue. Most athletes only replace about 2/3 of the water they lose when they follow this rule. Instead, drink fluids on a schedule. A general rule of thumb, depending on your weight and weather conditions is to drink 8 ounces of water about 15 minutes before beginning exercise and 8 ounces for each 15 minutes during your workout.
Another hydration myth is that everyone needs eight glasses of water a day. This may not be enough for some people who engage in higher intensity sports. It may be too much for sedentary people. This is because, although it is true that the average person loses 80 ounces of water a day, he or she also gains about 32 ounces of water from food. That means, in order to replace lost fluids a person only needs to drink about 48 ounces of water rather than the 64 ounces contained in eight glasses of water.
A recent study about over hydration has scared people into believing that you can get sick from drinking too much water during exercise. While this may be true in isolated cases, typically among endurance athletes, the average person will not get sick from drinking too much water unless they have an existing heart, liver or kidney problem. If you have one of these conditions, checking with your doctor about the proper amount of liquid to drink during exercise is advisable.
Stretching is another source of myths and misinformation. Contrary to popular belief, stretching will not “warm you up.” Warming up is done by starting a low level of activity and working up to your desired intensity. Stretching before exercise also will not prevent injury although research has shown that it will reduce pain and muscle soreness after exercise. Only a proper warm-up routine will help prevent injuries.
Many people also believe that stretching is most beneficial when done before a workout. Actually, gentle stretching after a workout can help reduce cramping and muscular pain. Also, there is the belief that any stretching is better than none. Improper stretching can actually increase the risk of muscular injuries. It’s worth taking the time to learn stretches appropriate to the activity you’re planning to perform.

Diet to Fight Cellulite: Stop Cellulite Forever
Cellulite is hardened fat cells that have been trapped in the body of muscle tissue and fiber. This tissue and fiber is constantly flushed by cleansing fluids through the day and the result is a very ugly bloated look.
Diet to fight cellulite should include extra intake in fruit, vegetables, wholegrain, and beans. Reduce your consumption of coffee, tea, sugar, salt, and alcohol. Also avoid as much as possible taking processed and refined food that contain excess fat, sugar, or salt such as chips, chocolate, etc.
Fast is not always Permanent
There are many gyms, weight loss experts and therapists who claim to have the wonder diet to get rid of cellulite in the body. No matter what they claim, one must remember that cellulite cannot go away overnight. It seems that it has come to stay. It can be gotten rid of completely and permanently too with the right diet to fight cellulite coupled by the right amount of exercise in the right quantity.
A general rule is that you should give cellulite the number of months of exercise as the number of years you have taken to develop the deposits. Trying to take some shortcut route to get rid of the fat will lead you nowhere. Many people may succeed in riding themselves of the cellulite deposits but only to find it back where it was in the first place. Only this time it never took so long to develop.
Cellulite deposits can be lowered or done away with completely with the right nutrition through diet and the right amount of exercise. Such a routine will, over a period of time, definitely reduce the cellulite deposits by metabolizing the fat stores for energy. The cellulite volumes will be considerably reduced if not completely eliminated.
Diet Is the Best Way
Your diet should consist of a lot of fiber and whole grain foods. This provides the system with plenty of roughage needed for the system to clean itself. In addition to this fresh fruits and vegetables do not allow the formation of fat tissue.
Consumption of alcohol in any form causes the cellulite deposits in the body to increase dramatically. It is the case with stress as well. Many people take to eating when they are stressed out. Some meditation in such cases has proven to be a great help to reduce food intake for those wanting to reduce weight.
With all said and done, following a good fat free diet and drinking plenty of fluids in addition to walking briskly for at least thirty minutes every day will bring the results you are looking for. It is equally important to stick to this routine if you do not want the cellulite deposits to return.

Denial At Diabetes: Long-term Health Effects
Most people, when diagnosed with diabetes, go through at least one period of denial. Denial is a time when you do not believe that your diabetes will truly affect you. It is a time when you feel exempt from reality: “surely, not me!” Denial at a diabetes diagnosis is fairly common, and a normal part of dealing with the news. It is longstanding denial that can be dangerous to your health.
People choose denial for a variety of reasons. In some cases, it might seem easiest to ignore the problem so it will go away. In other cases, a person will be scared of the responsibility that diabetes brings. This might even occur later in their life when they get diabetes fatigue or burnout from caring for a condition day in and day out.
You might be in denial about your diabetes if you find yourself rationalizing things. When you rationalize, you try to make something seem like it is okay or fine. You might say to yourself, “one bite won’t hurt,” or “I can miss one day of exercise.” The reality is that these are just the things that can hurt you when you have diabetes, and they can lead to more fluctuations in your blood sugar, which in turn can lead to complications from your diabetes.
There are a few areas that diabetics are most likely to rationalize about. The two major points are diet and exercise. Without maintaining a healthy diet and exercise schedule, diabetics can put themselves at severe risk. Diabetics in denial can also avoid proper self-monitoring for blood glucose levels. You might feel that you no longer need to test your blood sugar because you will just know what your level is at by how you feel. Although you will get more adept at gauging your blood sugar independently, you can never stop testing, because many other factors influence the way you feel. You wouldn’t want your blood glucose to spike because you confused the beginnings of a cold with low blood sugar.
People with diabetes might also smoke and think that it will not affect their lives. The truth of the matter is that smoking will kill you if you have diabetes or not. If you have diabetes, it will increase your chance of complications. “Just one puff” is too much.
If you are in denial, you might think that your type 2 diabetes is not serious. If you feel that taking pills is less serious than injecting insulin, you might be right. This, however, is not a reason to neglect yourself, because not properly managing your type 2 diabetes can lead to insulin dependence.
Managing diabetes is a time consuming process. You need to check your feet for complications, as well as go to the doctor’s office more often. You might be jealous of your friends and family because they have much less responsibility for their health. This is not productive for you.
Remember that taking care of your diabetes is actually time that you spend taking care of you. You can even reward yourself for positive diabetes management habits. Perhaps if you are diligent with your diet, exercise, and self-monitoring of blood glucose for a month, you will reward yourself with a massage, or a new shirt, or a new book.
There will be periods when you feel that managing your diabetes is out of your reach and not possible. This is not the case. You can manage your diabetes, and you can cope with it.
Write down your diabetes-related goals in a workbook. Having your goals written down will help you to achieve them. Chart your progress towards these goals. Often, the simple fact of knowing that you will write down your food at the end of the day makes you eat healthier so that you feel good about yourself when you write it down.
Tell your friends and family about your diabetes. Explain to them that encouraging you to go off your diet and exercise is not helpful, and help them understand the consequences that can occur. If your friends and family know about your diabetes, they will be able to help you stick to your healthy habits.
You can get over periods of denial about diabetes. Your diabetes management will help prevent complications and will allow you to lead a long and fulfilling life.

The Mind-Body Connection To Detox
The mind-body connection to addiction may open up new forms of drug-free detox treatments. The breakthrough was discovering that certain drug (opiate) receptors in the brain are only found in humans and different types of animals that have spines or back bones. Specific (limbic) systems that control emotions in the brain are affected by stimulating these drug receptors. Drugs stimulate these receptors but so does physical movement.
What is a detox diet?
A detox diet is thought to strengthen organs involved in detox and promote the excretion of stored toxins through the organs of elimination: the skin, intestines, liver, lungs, kidneys and lymphatic system. A detox diet program may include a special diet, herbs and supplements, hydrotherapy, exercise, breathing techniques and/or sauna.
Think about all the toxins we are constantly pumping into our bodies and it’s pretty obvious that the detox system could do with a helping hand. Symptoms that it is functioning badly include: tiredness, dark circles under the eyes, dull skin and bad digestion.
Detox Hot Tips
1. Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake a few days before you start;
2. Buy a detox book or pick out some tasty recipes to cook so you don’t get stuck for ideas;
3. Go shopping in advance - with the right foods at hand you shouldn’t go hungry;
4. Tell all your friends and family what you are doing in advance. If they know how serious you are they are less likely to try and force feed you a pint/bar of chocolate/Sunday roast when you next see them;
Who shouldn’t detox?
If you have any history of cancer, kidney, liver, heart disease or any other disease, are pregnant or under 16, do not contemplate detoxing without talking to your doctor.
Fresh Vegetables
All fresh vegetables except corn, which can be an allergenic food. Great detox foods include broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, garlic, artichokes, beets, red and green vegetables.
