Health & Nutrition: Vitamin Supplements for Children

It is natural for parents to become concerned about the nutritional content in the diet of their children, given that most children go through periods when they will only eat a small range of foods. Added to this is the rise and rise of junk food and the popularity it enjoys with children, which serves to make a balanced diet hard to achieve.

Although products such as vitamins are targeted at children with designs and shapes that appeal, this doesn't mean that the child will necessarily eat it. This is often surprising to parents.

However, at times children have particular things that they like and will reject anything that looks or tastes like something they are not keen on. For example, if a child hates anything that has a grape flavor, they will tend to extend this dislike to other things that have that flavor such as a vitamin, even if the vitamin is in the shape of their favorite toy character.

The solution is in finding a vitamin that is enticingly shaped like much-loved characters and that offers a taste the child will go for. Of course this might mean that vitamins offering a mix of flavors might well contain some that the child finds unpalatable along with the good ones, so you need to find packs with only the flavors that go down well. Most kids, luckily, are happy enough with the mixed flavors.

If your children are among those who never seem to get enough iron in their diet, there are some vitamin supplements that most children seem to enjoy and which offer the amount of iron that will be needed in their daily nutritional intake.

Flintstone Vitamins with Iron are among these, and are easily obtainable at any local supermarket. In a variety of flavors and colors, even those who will only eat certain flavors, such as cherry or orange, will benefit from the variety in this vitamin assortment.

Pokemon Vitamins with Iron are also a great favorite among children and, like the Flintstone vitamins, offer a nice variety from which to choose. In both cases, they are chewable and offer the benefit of being a multi-vitamin with iron.

Calcium is the element our bodies need to help our bones and teeth grow and stay strong and healthy - obviously vital for children. It can be difficult to keep levels high from diet alone, especially since some kids will not touch fresh milk.

Calcium is often added to multivitamin tablets, with examples including Scooby Doo Plus calcium chewable tablets, calcium Gummy Bears and Flintstones chewable multivitamin tables with calcium. They come with many different tastes so there should be something for every child.

For just a simple multi-vitamin, the ones that the kids seem to enjoy taking are Scooby Doo Vitamin Supplements or Complete Multi-Vitamins, Pokemon Vitamins, Bugs Bunny Vitamins and Flintstones Chewable Multi-Vitamins.

Taken daily, these contain all the nutritional requirements that are necessary for your child as well as allowing them to select a tasty treat that resembles a cartoon character they favor. They offer diverse mix of colors, shapes and flavors that appeal to children and as such they will eat something that will do them good without any objection.

No matter which style you settle upon for your kids, do not forget that they are not candies. Treat them like medicines, keeping them out of the way of kids when they are not taking them, since too many can be harmful to health.
